Shelter Volunteers have Busy Season (10/98)

The Shelter Committee worked at all Burlington Section shelters (with the exception of Taft) during the summer. We responded to requests made by adopters in their inspection reports and worked with them. We lent our support to the Laraway Section on their new shelter.

Twin Brooks Tenting Area Adopter Jeff Bostwick completed the finishing touches on the new tent platforms. According to Jeff, 40 people signed the register book at the site during a two-week period in August.

Planning meetings are continuing as the Butler Lodge Committee charts the course for the reconstruction of Butler Lodge in 2000.

The GMC, in conjunction with the Burlington Section, is considering placing a volunteer caretaker at Taft Lodge during the winter. The idea is that a GMC presence at the Lodge on weekends would discourage abuse of the shelter. If you're a hardy soul and interested, contact Leo at 878-9403. The idea is in the developmental stage; you could help it develop.

So, to wrap this up, thank you to all the volunteers and those who support our work.
